Early Visual Development
NERO — Rome, 64 AD
A story of power, loyalty, love and destruction set during the final years of Emperor Nero. As Rome moves toward chaos, every choice leaves a mark on history.
The World
Rome, 64 AD. The eternal city stands at the height of its glory — and at the edge of collapse. The Forum seethes with intrigue. The Tiber carries the weight of empire. In the marble corridors of the Palatine Hill, whispers are more dangerous than swords. This is not the Rome of myth. It is the Rome of human ambition, fear, and fragile beauty — a civilization consuming itself from within.
The Man Behind the Emperor
History remembers Nero as a tyrant. NERO asks a different question: what made him one?
This three-part series strips away centuries of legend to reveal a man caught between the expectations of an empire and the desires of his own heart. A ruler who composed music when he should have commanded armies. Who loved when he should have calculated. Who, in the end, could not save the city he burned — or the woman he cherished.
NERO is not an apology for a tyrant. It is a portrait of a human being at the edge of everything.
Surrounded by Agrippina’s ambition, Seneca’s wisdom, and Tigellinus’ ruthlessness — and torn apart by his love for Poppaea — Nero stands alone at the center of it all.
Aurelia
At the center of the story stands Aurelia — a woman who loved the man Nero, not the Emperor. In a world where everyone around him kneels before power, she alone sees through the purple. Their bond becomes the series’ emotional core: tender, dangerous, and ultimately impossible to survive.
